J.E.M.Coombes MBE
In 1953 my father was invited to North America, to talk electronic engineering, with Honeywell Inc.
He was developing electrical and hydraulic closed-loop control systems, which today we’d call automation. With Honeywell Inc. he developed a three-axis tracing system for controlling machine tools from technical drawings. “These were essentially self-correcting mechanisms to which can be attributed a certain degree of intelligence.”
My father is second from the left, next to the guy with the sprauncy tie. Using a photograph from this series I’ve embarked on a large portrait of my father. Bit spooky as I wasn’t born when the photograph was taken. My father died in 1974.

A good likeness. Don't suppose it's anything to do with you having your head shaved?
