The Dangerous Shrubs of Derbyshire, part 1: The Hawthorn
You’ve got to be careful of the shrubs in Derbyshire:
We went away for the weekend, sleeping under canvas, well actually under steel – we put the bags and boxes in the tent and slept in the van.
As darkness gathered and wrapped around us like warm black wool we sat around the fire and talked of times past and things to come.
Meanwhile up on the hill Bad Men were burying stolen treasure…
The din of clattering rain woke me at 06:30 and I ventured out into a mist softened landscape and, with wet feet, walked through the early morning. Avoiding any of the more dangerous looking shrubs of course
